So, here I am. A month off my 60th birthday and still in the depths of the COVID pandemic. I had so many plans for this year with travel to various clubs and events in Europe and the USA. But life has a strange way of changing all that and I'm wondering what to do and what will actually take place this year to allow me to celebrate this milestone birthday.
The good news, I guess, is that it looks as if UK clubs will open again from 21st June and I'm sure many of the clubs are already planning events for that week. Time to get back on a diet to wear the latex I bought in February 2020 that I have not worn since! Of course, some clubs are going to struggle. Rubber Revolution has lots its most recent home with Murder Mile closing down. Clubs such as Pedestal seem to have gone dark with the website. Fire is still open so hopefully we'll see Pedestal return soon after the end of restrictions.
Essen has been cancelled, German Fetish Ball is still not 100% sure of taking place and Florida Fetish Weekend has been been postponed once again to 2022. Both were high on list of attending as May is sill not that far from my birthday. Fingers crossed that Vancouver will take place but have to see and hopefully some events in Netherlands will take place over the summer.
The event I really want to go to of course is DommeTrips, in October but seems to create issues for some people. I was recently told by someone who at one time I would done anything asked of me, who I introduced to other events and who I loved that she would have thought I would have enough options or events to celebrate closer to my birthday! Seriously This was said without irony and clearly no actual thought to what was actually going on in the world! She said this because, despite us both having attended Dommetrips twice, she now feels it's "her" holiday but clearly not mine. Not sure how that works but I'm meant to just accept that and move on.
I digress.. (it's annoying me). 20 years ago, I remember thinking that I didn't want to be the 60 year old in a club and over the years that view has not really changed just softened. Then of course I find I am 60. I've lost of year of clubbing due to the pandemic and I think why should I give up. Ok. some clubs (Klub Verboten.. looking at you) seem to only want a young crowd to attend their events but when I think back to others there is always a good mix of ages so maybe I'll carry on for a few years yet...
